OPEN ONLY TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE 50 UNITED STATES AND DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA WHO ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD AS OF THE DATE OF ENTRY AND WHO ARE NOT CULINARY SCHOOL STUDENTS, GRADUATES, OR "FOOD PROFESSIONALS" (AS DEFINED BELOW).

By entering this Promotion, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Any violation of these rules may result in disqualification. All decisions of the judges regarding this Promotion are final and binding in all respects.

1. PROMOTION PERIOD. Promotion begins 12:01:00 AM, Eastern Daylight Time ("EDT"), on August 4, 2009 and all entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM, EDT on August 31, 2009 ("Promotion Period"). Sponsor’s computer is the official time keeping device for the Promotion.

2. ELIGIBILITY. The Taste of Something Better Recipe Contest (the "Promotion") is only open to living legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who are at least 18 years old as of the date of entry. Officers, directors, members, and employees of the Sponsor, the judging organization (if applicable), or any other party associated with the development or administration of this Promotion, and the immediate family (i.e., parents, children, siblings, spouse), and persons residing in the same household, as such individuals, as well as full-time culinary school students or graduates of culinary schools, or "Food Professionals" are not eligible to enter this Promotion or win a prize. For purposes of this Promotion, a "Food Professional" is defined as someone who derives, or has derived, a salary, fee, or other financial compensation from creating, critiquing, publishing, or selling food recipes (including but not limited to, chefs, and food writers). The final determination as to whether a particular entrant is a Food Professional or a full time culinary school student or graduate will be made by Sponsor at its sole decision. This Promotion is void outside the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, and where prohibited.

3. HOW TO ENTER. Visit www.BonAppetit.com/promo/LGTasteOfSomethingBetter during the Promotion Period and follow the instructions to complete and submit the entry form. You must include: (a) an original recipe with ingredient list and preparation details that falls into either the "entrée" or "Main Dish" category and requires no more than one hour or less to prepare and cook (recipe should be, in English); (b) a photo that clearly and accurately depicts the entrant (alone) within 12 months of entry (1 MB max file size in the following formats: .JPEG, .PDF, .GIF, .PNG, ; and (c) a typed essay of 300 words or less, in English, which answers the question "How does your recipe reflect LG’s contest theme of ‘Taste of Something Better’?" ( recipe, photo, and essay are collectively, the "Submission"). Entrants represent and warrant that their Submission is the original work of such entrant, it has not been copied from others, it has not previously won awards, it does not violate the rights of any other person or entity, and publication of the Submission via various media including Web posting will not infringe on the rights of any third party. Any Entrants indemnify and hold harmless, Sponsor and Sponsor Entities from any claims to the contrary. Limit: One (1) Submission per person per e-mail address during the Promotion Period. Please see the Privacy Policy located at http://www.condenet.com/privacy.html for details of Sponsor’s policy regarding the use of personal information collected in connection with this Promotion.

4. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS.

Submissions must conform with the additional submission requirements set forth herein:

Any waiver of any obligation hereunder by Sponsor does not constitute a general waiver of any obligation to entrants. By submitting a Submission, you agree that your Submission is gratuitous and made without restriction, and will not place Sponsor under any obligation, that Sponsor is free to disclose or otherwise disclose the ideas contained in the Submission on a non-confidential basis to anyone or otherwise use the ideas without any additional compensation to you. You acknowledge that, by acceptance of your Submission, Sponsor does not waive any rights to use similar or related ideas previously known to Sponsor, or developed by its employees, or obtained from sources other than you.

5. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION.

Round One: All Submissions will be judged on or about September 2, 2009, (the "Judging Date") by a panel of judges comprised of the Sponsor and Sponsor-selected recipe testers. The judges will score Submissions based on the following criteria: expected taste of finished recipe (40%), originality of recipe (25%), overall impression of essay submission (20%), clarity of recipe instructions (15%). The ten (10) Submissions with highest overall score will advance to Round Two ("Round Two Entrants"). In the event of a tie, tie breaker will be based upon the highest score in the first judging criteria, continuing thereafter to each judging criteria in order, as needed, to break the tie.

Round Two: On or about September 4, 2009, the ten (10) semi-finalists will be judged by a sponsor-selected recipe tester who will prepare each recipe and judge them based on the criteria listed above. The three (3) entries with the highest overall score will be declared potential finalists, and may be interviewed by representatives of Sponsor prior to being selected to participate in the New York cooking competition ("Finalists"). In the event of a tie, tie breaker will be based upon the highest score in the first judging criteria, continuing thereafter to each judging criteria in order, as needed, to break the tie. Potential Finalists will be notified by mail, email and/or telephone on September 10, 2009. Sponsor representatives may disqualify a Potential Finalist based on criteria generally applied by Sponsor when engaging marketing spokespersons. Qualified potential finalists accepted by Sponsor will become "Finalists."

Final Round: All Finalists will be required to attend the event in New York City currently to scheduled for September 25, 2009 at the Bon Appetit Supper Club and Café where they will prepare their recipes before the judges for a live cook-off. Finalist entries will be judged by a panel of judges based on the following criteria: taste of finished recipe (50%), originality of recipe (35%), overall presentation (15%). The Submission with the highest score will be declared the potential Grand Prize winner, the Submission with the next highest score will be declared the potential First Prize winner, and the Submission with the lowest score will be declared the potential Second Prize winner. In the event of a tie, tie breaker will be based upon the highest score in the first judging criteria, continuing thereafter to each judging criteria in order, as needed, to break the tie.

The New York cook-off Grand Prize Winner, First Prize Winner and Second Prize Winner will be determined by the panel of judges at the end of the live cook-off. The Grand Prize winner of the September 25, 2009 New York City judging may be eligible to travel to Thailand to compete in a worldwide recipe contest, subject to verification.

THREE FINALIST PRIZES: Each Finalist will receive two (2) roundtrip coach airfare tickets from the major commercial airport nearest Finalist's primary residence in the US to New York, NY , one (1) standard hotel room (double occupancy) for two (2) nights at a hotel selected by Sponsor, $1,000 spending money. The approximate retail value of the Finalist prize is $5,800.00. Actual value may vary based on fluctuations in price for airfare and/or accommodations, and distance between departure and destination. Ground transportation, meals, luggage fees, in-room or other personal charges at lodging (e.g., mini-bar, movies), telephone calls, gratuities, incidentals, and all other expenses are the sole responsibility of the Finalist. Trip must be taken during the LG Supper Club cook-off event, currently scheduled for September 25, 2009; otherwise Finalist forfeits the prize. Sponsor will attempt to accommodate Finalist's preferred itinerary, but all specifics thereof will be at Sponsor's sole discretion. Finalist and travel guest must travel on the same interary. If, in the sole judgment of Sponsor, air travel is not required due to Finalist’s proximity to prize location, ground transportation may be substituted for roundtrip air travel.

If Finalist is eligible, but a minor in his/her state of residence, the travel guest must be Finalist’s parent or legal guardian. A minor may accompany Finalist as a travel guest only if the Finalist is the minor’s parent or legal guardian. Minors must be accompanied at all times during trip (including, but not limited to, in-flight, hotel stay and all prize-related events) by minor’s parent or legal guardian. Travel guests must sign and return a travel release before any ticketing of travel occurs. Finalist and guest must have all necessary identification and/or travel documents (e.g., a valid U.S. driver’s license) required for travel

ONE GRAND PRIZE. Grand Prize winner will receive two (2) roundtrip coach airfare tickets from the major commercial airport nearest winner's primary residence in the US to Bangkok, Thailand , one (1) standard hotel room (double occupancy) for six (6) nights at a hotel selected by Sponsor, one (1) 4-Door French Door Refrigerator Model #LMX28983ST, one (1) 36" LG gas cooktop Model#LCG3691ST, one (1) LG Dishwasher Model#LDF7932ST, (1) LG Microwave Oven Model#LMVM2085ST and one (1) LG Double Wall oven Model#LWD3081ST. Delivery and installation included. The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $16,155.00. Actual value may vary based on fluctuations in price for airfare and/or accommodations, and distance between departure and destination. Ground transportation, meals, luggage fees, in-room or other personal charges at lodging (e.g., mini-bar, movies), telephone calls, gratuities, incidentals, and all other expenses are not included. Winner and travel companion must be available to travel on the same itinerary. Trip must be taken during the Life Tastes Good Global Competition currently scheduled for November 8 – 13, 2009, otherwise winner forfeits the prize. Sponsor will attempt to accommodate winner's preferred itinerary, but all specifics thereof will be at Sponsor's sole discretion. Unless child of winner, travel companion must be 18 years of age or older as of the date of departure. Winner and travel companion are responsible for obtaining all international travel documents. If winner is eligible, but a minor in his/her state of residence, the travel guest must be winner’s parent or legal guardian. Minors must be accompanied at all times during trip (including, but not limited to, in-flight, hotel stay and all prize-related events) by minor’s parent or legal guardian. Travel guests must sign and return a travel release before any ticketing of travel occurs.

ONE FIRST PRIZE. First Prize winner will receive one (1) 4-Door French Door Refrigerator Model #LMX28983ST, one (1) 36" LG gas cooktop Model#LCG3691ST, and one (1) LG Double Wall oven Model#LWD3081ST. Delivery and installation included. The approximate retail value of the First Place prize is $8,557.00.

ONE SECOND PRIZE. One (1) LG Double Wall oven Model#LWD3081ST. Delivery and installation included. The approximate retail value of the Second place prize is $3,519.00.

Total ARV of all prizes $ $45,631.00.

6. TAXES. All federal, state and/or local income and other taxes, if any, are the winner’s sole responsibility.

7. OWNERSHIP AND LICENSE. All Submissions become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Providing a Submission grants Sponsor and its agents the right to publish, use, adapt, edit and/or modify such Submission in any way, in any and all media, without limitation, and without consideration to the entrant. By accepting a prize, the winner agrees that his or her Submission will be deemed a Work Made For Hire under the Copyright laws of the United States, but if it cannot be so deemed, then the winner irrevocably assigns and transfers to Sponsor all of his/her right, title and interest in and to his/her Submission, including all but not limited to all copyright and trademark rights which he or she may have, in the United States and worldwide, therein, for consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged. Winner hereby waives in favor of Sponsor, all rights of "Droit Moral" or "Moral Rights of Authors" or any similar rights or principles of law that winner may now or later have to their Submission. Sponsor reserves the right to alter, change or modify the winning Submissions, in its sole discretion. Upon request of Sponsor, winner shall execute and deliver such additional instrument of assignment, as may be solely deemed by Sponsor, reasonably necessary to establish the ownership of record of the right, title and interest in and to the Submission and of the copyrights transferred and "Moral Rights of Authors" waived under these Official Rules. Should Sponsor fail to request the said assignment as stated, that shall not be deemed a waiver of Sponsor’s rights and Sponsor may at a later time request the assignment.

8. NO PRIZE TRANSFER OR SUBSTITUTION. No prize or any portion thereof is transferable or redeemable for cash. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. No substitutions for prize except by Sponsor, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be substituted.

9. CONSENT AND RELEASE. By entering the Promotion, each entrant releases and discharges the Sponsor, judging organization (if applicable), and any other party associated with the development or administration of this Promotion, their parent, subsidiary, and affiliated entities, and each of their respective officers, directors, members, shareholders, employees, independent contractors, agents, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, "Sponsor Entities"), from any and all liability whatsoever in connection with this Promotion, including without limitation legal claims, costs, injuries, losses or damages, demands or actions of any kind (including without limitation personal injuries, death, damage to, loss or destruction or property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation, or portrayal in a false light) (collectively, "Claims"). Except where prohibited: (i) acceptance of a prize constitutes the consent of any Finalist, without further compensation, to use the name and likeness of such Finalist and his/her Submission for editorial, advertising and publicity purposes by the Sponsor and/or others authorized by the Sponsor; (ii) acceptance of a prize constitutes a release by any Finalist of the Sponsor Entities of any and all Claims in connection with the administration of this Promotion and the use, misuse, or possession of his/her Submission or any prize, or any travel or prize installation related thereto; (iii) any Potential Finalist may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility (including social security number) and a liability/publicity/copyright release. Affidavits and releases must be returned within four (4) days from the date that Sponsor first tries to notify the Potential Finalist. If Potential Finalist is deemed to be a minor under the jurisdiction of his/her residence, the prize will be awarded in the name of his/her parent or legal guardian who must execute the necessary affidavits and releases.

10. DISCLAIMERS. (i) Entries that are lost, late, misdirected, incorrect, garbled, or incompletely received, for any reason, including by reason of hardware, software, browser, or network failure, malfunction, congestion, or incompatibility at Sponsor’s servers or elsewhere, will not be eligible. In the event of a dispute, entries will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet Access Provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institute) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. (ii) Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of the web site. Use of bots or other automated process to enter is prohibited and may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of Sponsor. (iii) Sponsor further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Promotion if it is not capable of completion as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, force majeure or technical failures of any sort. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor will randomly award the prizes from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to cancellation. (iv) Sponsor Entities are not responsible for errors in the administration or fulfillment of this Promotion, including without limitation mechanical, human, printing, distribution or production errors, and may modify or cancel this Promotion based upon such error at its sole discretion without liability. (v) SPONSOR ENTITIES MAKE NO WARRANTIES, REPRESENTATIONS OR GUARANTEES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IN FACT OR IN LAW, AS REGARDS THIS PROMOTION OR THE MERCHANTABILITY, QUALITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE REGARDING ANY PRIZE OR ANY COMPONENT OF ANY PRIZE. (vi) CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS PROMOTION MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND/OR CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION. (vii) Sponsor is not responsible for any change of email address, mailing address and/or telephone number of entrants.

11. APPLICABLE LAWS AND JURISDICTION. This Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Issues concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York. By entering, entrants consent to the jurisdiction and venue of the federal, state and local courts located in New York, New York. All disputes arising out of or connected with this Promotion will be resolved individually, and without resort to class action. Should there be a conflict between the laws of the State of New York and any other laws, the conflict will be resolved in favor of the laws of the State of New York. All judgments or awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket damages (excluding attorneys’ fees) associated with participation in this Promotion and shall not include any indirect, punitive, incidental and/or consequential damages.
